Biomechanical Evaluation For The Lower Body

Pelvis, Hip, L-Spine & Trunk

October 3 & 4, 2020

LIVE online - 9:30 am to 5:30 pm both days

Drawing upon the work of Dr. Shirley Sahrmann, Dr. Linda Joy-Lee, Dr. Evan Osar, Dr. Stuart McGill, Dr. Craig Liebenson, Dr. Andry Vleeming, Dr. Vladamir Janda and more ...

We'll show you how the lower body is a huge driver of upper body function and performance.

The forces transmitted from the ground through the feet and up to the pelvis are supported by and distributed through the muscles of the trunk.

Lack of movement or movement impairments can be both expected and unexpected depending upon a client's childhood development, sport training and performance, and injury history.

Join us to see how we examine the lower body and make recommendations for therapeutic movement.

Here's What You Will Learn:

  • Walk through the palpation of major landmarks of lower body surface anatomy
  • A brief review of a postural screen including major landmark palpation and common faults requiring more in depth assessment
  • Review simple functional movement screens in sitting, standing and lying to identify pattern mastery and trouble spots requiring assessment
  • Typical assessment priorities based on postural screen, balance evaluation, gait review and functional screens
  • A review of the most common injuries and the possible movement impairments that may result from compensation strategies
  • An introduction to the role fascia plays in pain and motor pattern generation particularly in the lower body

And There's More ...

  • Get comprehensive ‘fill-in-the-blank’ templates for consent forms and billing and scheduling policies
  • Walk step by step through a sample biomechanical/musculoskeletal/orthopaedic assessment of the knee, hip, pelvis and lower back using ‘done-for-you’ assessment templates
  • Sort through, prioritize and discuss the various clinical findings from the assessment and possible treatment directions

And STILL More ...

  • See a demonstration of exercise planning and client management software platforms
  • Learn when and how to conduct a neurological screen of the lower body with an easy to follow checklist
  • A discussion about pain in the pelvis and lower back and its connections to past physical or emotional trauma
  • Step through ‘done-for-you’ assessment and progress report templates used extensively with auto and disability insurers
